WALKING HOME INDEPENDENTLY FROM SCHOOL - SUMMER TERM ONWARDS
Dear parents and carers,
As some of you may be aware, in the Summer term, with the consent of their parents, Year 5 children are allowed to walk home from school independently.
Please refer to the 'Walking to school' policy using the below link.
Parents must follow the process documented in the policy and be aware that if consent on Arbor has not been provided and the teacher has not been emailed (providing 48 hours notice), your child's teacher will not release them from school to walk home on their own.
You will notice in Arbor there should be a new consent open to you:
Any issues with Arbor or questions about the policy, please contact the school office.
Many thanks.

SPRING TERM LIFE SKILLS DAY – RED NOSE DAY CHARITY SALE
Dear Parents & Carers,
Year 5 Spring Term Life Skills Day – Red Nose Day Charity Sale
We are excited to inform you of the upcoming Year 5 Life Skills Day. We ran a successful Life Skills Day in the Autumn term, where the children focused on skills in cooking a healthy meal, budgeting income against bills and spending, and teamwork. This term, our Life Skills Day will focus on planning and running a charity fundraising event. This is an area that a lot of Year 5 children have expressed interest in already, so we hope they will enjoy the challenge and responsibility that this brings, whilst raising money for a good cause.
This Friday, the children were told the focus for the day and worked in small groups to come up with their own ideas for the charity fund raising themselves. They decided upon a product that they will make, which will be sold at a market style sale, in our Junior Hall, at lunchtime on Friday 21st March. This is Red Nose Day, and all money raised will go to Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day campaign. Children from every year group in the school will be invited to attend the market during their lunchtime.
The event will be planned, advertised and run by the Year 5 children.
The children have begun making their stock and will continue to do so over the coming two weeks, which will then be sold at the charity sale on Friday 21st March. Children will decide what they would like to make to sell, but we are suggesting things such as origami, paintings, Pom Poms, football fact files, or collecting donations of things that they wish to donate. At school we are limited in the resources that we can provide for the children, as they may have many different ideas. We will be providing paper, card, colours and paints. Therefore, some children may come home requesting additional materials that we are unable to provide, such as wool for pom poms. If you are able to provide any materials such as this, it would be great. However, it is not essential if you are unable to, as the children will be able to make something using the resources that we can provide. We encourage you to have conversations with your child about what they would like to sell on their staff with the resources we have and you have at home, and with the skills that your child has. In school, the children will be given time to work with their group for their stall.
On the day of the sale, all children will be advised that each item will cost 50p, and they can buy a maximum of two items each. Year 5 children will also be able to buy from the sale, so please do allow them to also bring in their £1 on Friday 21st March.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. Stow and Mrs. Marlow
