MRS DERVIN MATERNITY COVER - LETTER SENT 11.10.24

Dear Dragonflies Parents and Carers,                                                                            11th October 2024

Following on from my letters in September and early October, I am writing to let you know the date Mrs Dervin returns to work and an update on the maternity cover teacher.

Mrs Dervin

Mrs Dervin is returning to work next week and will be teaching her class on Thursday and Friday. She will be in school from Wednesday lunchtime as she has planning time in the afternoon with the other year 2 teachers. This will be the pattern for the last two weeks of half term.

Friday 25th October will be the last day for Mrs Dervin before she goes on her maternity leave. Mrs Dervin is very much looking forward to being with her class next week, catching up with them and teaching them.  

I will set below who is teaching in Dragonflies on Monday – Wednesday for the last two weeks of this half term.

Maternity cover teacher.

I have appointed Miss Higgins, who is an experienced primary school teacher with many years teaching in year 2.  She will be teaching in Dragonflies every Monday – Wednesday whilst Mrs Dervin in on her maternity leave.

Miss Higgins is starting teaching in Dragonflies from this Monday 14th October.

During the last two weeks there is planned time for Mrs Dervin to handover to Miss Higgins.

I am in the process of appointing a teacher to teach the children on Thursdays and Fridays. I can assure parents that I am close to making an appointment and will write when I have appointed.   There will also be time for the Thursday – Friday teacher to have handover time with Mrs Dervin.

You may be aware that there is a teacher recruitment shortage, and I started the appointment process in June last academic year in order to secure a maternity cover teacher. I have very high standards of appointments at Reigate Parish because people are working with children and I only want the best for Parish children. I know that you are keen to know who is going to be teaching your child and you have been waiting a long time for news but be assured I have been active and tenacious in this appointment process.

I will write again with news of the maternity cover teacher for Thursday and Fridays when I have appointed.

MRS DERVIN MATERNITY COVER

Dear Dragonflies Parents and Carers,

I trust your child is enjoying their new academic year in year 2.  It has been lovely welcoming them back.

I am writing to inform you that this week I have placed an advert for the maternity cover teacher to teach in Dragonflies when Mrs Dervin goes on her maternity leave. Mrs Dervin is teaching in Dragonflies until  the end of this half term (Friday 25th October)so the new teacher would be in post from Monday 4th November (NB the 4th is an INSET day for children).

I will write again with news of the maternity cover teacher when I have appointed.
