MAYA DAY - PORTALS OF THE PAST ARE VISITING!
Dear Parents and Carers
We are excited to welcome Portals to the Past to school to help bring the topic of the Maya to life on Thursday 27th February (the first Thursday after half term).
Travelling back 1000 years, children will have the chance to participate in a fascinating and immersive range of activities in Maya society, including Mesoamerica ballgames, ancient rituals and so much more.
In order to complete the immersive experience, your child may wish to dress as an explorer or archaeologist. This could be a costume such as the one below, or whatever they would wear on an expedition to discover an ancient civilisation. Please do not feel obliged to buy a costume, we encourage borrowing from families who have already dressed as explorers or re-imagining existing costumes and clothes.
Alternatively, they may like to demonstrate their creativity with researching and making a Maya headdress (or wearing the ones we have made in school this week).
If dressing up is not something your child enjoys, they are welcome to come in some comfortable clothes that they would wear to travel on holiday.

After half term, Jaguars PE days will be Monday (indoor) and Wednesday (outdoor).
Gorillas will remain as Wednesday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor).

JAGUARS TEACHER - UPDATE
Dear Jaguars parents,
I am writing to let you know that Mr Busby is going to be teaching in Jaguars all of next week. Miss Silver has been ill this week (Thursday and Friday) and Mr Busby (an experienced teacher and supply teacher) has been in school teaching in Jaguars so he is getting to know them and see their many strengths.
Can you let your child know about this change of teacher as I know they want to know who is teaching them next week.
I know Mrs Saunders is looking forward to teaching the Jaguar children after half term.
It should be said that with Miss Wood leaving and having Miss Silver and Mr Busby teaching the children, understandably it has been a harder time for the Jaguar children. However, they all have shown great resilience, good behaviour choices, perseverance with their learning and continued to enjoy the different lessons and topics. It is important that parents know this because my staff team and I have seen this. My senior staff and I check in with the class regularly throughout the day and this will continue next week as well.
When the weekend comes, I hope you all enjoy it.
