KS2 SPORTS DAY @K2, CRAWLEY - CONSENT, ARRANGEMENTS AND TRANSPORT

ADMINISTRATION OF SCHOOL SUPPLIED MEDICINE.

Dear parents and carers,

Following a review of our Health and Safety procedures and in line with updated statutory guidance, after May half term school will no longer be administering medicines from our own supplies.

To ensure the highest safety standards and avoid the risk of incorrect dosage or undisclosed allergies, we can only administer medication that has been supplied by the parent in its original pharmacy packaging, clearly labelled with the child's name and dosage instructions.

  • If a child develops a fever during the day that requires paracetamol, our policy will be to contact parents for collection, rather than administering school-stocked medication to mask symptoms.
  • For hay fever, we encourage parents to use once daily, 24-hour antihistamines administered at home before the school day begins.

We will keep a supply for emergencies or stings, bites or injury’s that may occur at school.

Schools are not legally required to provide medications like paracetamol (e.g. Calpol). Their main duty is to:

  • Keep children safe.
  • Follow a clear medication policy.
  • Obtain parental consent before giving any medicine.

Please note the following:

  • Medicine to be provided by parent in original packaging, clearly labelled with the child’s name: No loose pills in foil or liquid decanted into smaller bottles.
  • Written Consent: A new form must be signed for every new bottle/medicine brought in. Forms can be found on the school website: Parents/Links & forms/Administration of medicine form or the school office can provide you with a hard copy.
  • Expiration Dates: It is the parent's responsibility to ensure the supplied bottle hasn't expired.

If your child is unwell and requires Calpol before school, please question whether you should be sending them to school. If your child requires Calpol for another reason (e.g., previous injury), then please send in the required medication.

Please note this change of policy will be in place from after May half term.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Frances Davis, Headteacher

UPDATE TO ARBOR - SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Dear parents & carers

You will see a new account type, ‘School Supplies’ of your child’s Arbor page.

This account will be for contributions towards school supplies for events such DT days, Food Technology, Christmas Making Day etc.

If the school is asking for a contribution towards an event that your child is involved in, you will receive a letter from the school with details of the event and the requested contribution. You will then see this amount as an outstanding payment on your child’s Arbor page.

Many thanks.

CONTACTING THE OFFICE REGARDING A CHANGE IN PICKUP ARRANGEMENTS

Dear parents and carers,

To ensure the safety of our students and to make sure all pickup changes are communicated reliably, we are reiterating our afternoon notification process.

Afternoon changes: Please CALL the office

If you need to change your child's pickup arrangements during the afternoon, please call the school office directly rather than sending an email.

Our office team often works part-time or may be away from their desks assisting students and staff. Because they cannot monitor the inbox constantly, an afternoon email does not guarantee that your message will be seen before the end of the school day.

If you are notifying us of a change via email in the morning, please always include your child's class teacher.

By calling us for last-minute changes, you help us ensure that every child gets to where they need to be safely and on time.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

BREAKFAST CLUB – NOTICE OF A SMALL PRICE INCREASE FROM SEPTEMBER 2026

Dear parents and carers,

Please refer to the below letter regarding Breakfast Club prices.

CELEBRATING OUR PUPILS:

UPDATED PHOTOGRAPHY CONSENT POLICY AND NEW VIDEO CONSENT

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following the communication on 23/03/26 regarding the updated photography and consent policy, in order to showcase what goes on around school and promote Opal play, we have added a new consent:

Consent to videos posted on the school website and the weekly newsletter.

There are now five consents the school have recently updated and amended, so if you haven't already done so, please log onto Arbor and accept or decline the relevant consents.

The five consents are:

  • Consent to photographs on the school website, parish post and any other school newsletter.
  • Consent to class photos
  • Consent to internal photographs
  • Consent to photographs on social media
  • Consent to videos posted on the school website and the weekly newsletter.

We understand that some parents may prefer not to have their child’s image shared publicly; we completely respect these wishes and want to ensure our records accurately reflect your preferences.

The change in this policy is following feedback from parents and carers, who have requested we celebrate our children’s amazing achievements, and sharing these moments in The Parish Post, on our website, and social media is a wonderful way to do so. Rather than obscuring or excluding faces, we would love to share clear photos of our pupils’ extraordinary talents and accomplishments—with your permission.

    Action Required:

Please log in to your Arbor account to review and update your consent settings ASAP.

    How to do it:

Log onto your child's Arbor profile, open each consent in the "Notices" section and accept or decline - please do not leave it pending.

Thank you for your continued support in celebrating our pupils' success.

YEAR RECEPTION AND 1 - UPDATE RE RECEPTION OUTDOOR AREA.

Dear Year 1 and Reception Parents,

I wanted to share an update following a recent tidy up of the Reception outdoor area.

A group of current Reception parents and staff kindly gave up their time over the Easter holidays to carry out a deep clean. This included general tidying, sweeping, cutting back trees, cleaning windows, jet washing etc . The Reception staff team and I are all very grateful for everybody's effort and support in helping to keep the space safe and welcoming for the children.

Whilst working in the area, we saw that the sandpit’s tarpaulin had become damaged and was fraying. In addition, much of the sand has been lost over time and the structure itself needed attention. To ensure the area remains safe and usable, the decision was made to carefully take the sandpit apart. We were able to save as much of the remaining sand as possible and will be working to rebuild it.

I would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the year 1 parents who raised funds for the sand last year last when they were Reception parents. It has been a much-valued resource for the children, and the Reception team truly appreciate the time and effort that went into making it possible.

Looking ahead, I would love to install a new sandpit. My aim is to create something slightly smaller and more durable, which will be easier to maintain and require less frequent replenishing of sand. To support this, I will be looking to asking the PTA for their financial support.  I will share more information with you soon.

Thank you for your continued support.

    Miss Wallace

    Reception Phase leader
