YEAR 5 - ST BEDES OPEN EVENING - JULY 2ND

YEAR 5 FOOD TECHNOLOGY - SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE

Dear Parents & Carers,

As part of our DT topic this half term, Year 5 will be designing and cooking a spaghetti bolognese meal. We have already began researching ingredients that we might like to include in our meal.

We will be holding a food tech morning on Wednesday 6th May 2026 where the children will be working in small groups to prepare and cook their meal. Expect a wonderful mix of teamwork, creativity, and a sprinkling of parmesan-topped excitement as our young chefs bring their ideas to life!

The children will be able to savour their wonderful creations, sitting down for a restaurant-style experience and then will have their lunch at school as usual. Who knows—we may even discover a few future master chefs in the making!

For this to be a successful day, we are asking parents to contribute £2. This money will pay for the cost of the ingredients, so you do not need to bring anything in to school. If your child would like a specific additional ingredient, then we are happy for you to also provide it on the day. We will communicate to the children which ingredients we will be providing by the end of next week.

Please can you pay using Arbor by Wednesday 29th April. You can make payment by clicking on the School Supplies Account on your child’s Arbor page, then on ‘Top up Account’ to make payment.

Children will need to wear school uniform and bring in an apron on the day (Wednesday 6th May).

If your child’s dietary information has recently changed, please could you check and update Arbor accordingly.

YEAR 5 - PE DAYS NEXT WEEK (W/C 27/04)

Dear parents and carers 

The Dunottar coaches are coming in next Wednesday, so PE will be:

- Wednesday for both classes

- Thursday for Koalas

- Friday for Pandas

YEAR 5 GREEK DAY

Dear Year 5 Parents/Carers,

On Friday 8th May we will be having Greek Day in Year 5 and the children are invited to come to school dressed up in clothing from ancient Greek times. They can come dressed as Greek Gods/Goddesses if they would like to. Please don't feel that you must go and spend lots of money on a bought costume. A creatively wrapped bedsheet works well!

We have attached a document of some ideas for dressing up.

There is no expectation for children to dress up if they don't want to.

We have Portals from the Past coming in to do a wonderful workshop with the children throughout the day and this supports our History learning about ancient Greeks this half term.
