SEND and disabilities

At Reigate Parish in our inclusive environment, we actively support children with SEND to learn. We do not lower our aspiration for children with SEND, because we have the same goal and ambition for them, but their route and journey may appear different to reach their independent goals and aspirations.

As a result of tight sequencing of our planning and linking with the National Curriculum, children are secure in their learning and able to remember learning from one year to the next and from one topic to the next.

Below is how we approach SEND.

Revised Ordinarily Available Provision (OAP) guidance is now live

We are delighted to share the revised Ordinarily Available Provision (OAP) guidance with you: Ordinarily available provision (schools) - Surrey County Council.

This guidance has been developed in close partnership with school staff, partners and colleagues to create a practical tool that reflects school experiences, and supports schools to deliver positive, inclusive education for all children.

Why OAP matters
OAP is a practical tool designed to help schools deliver high quality teaching and remove barriers to learning, enabling all children to access the curriculum and make progress.

Surrey have created an accessible and practical guide that places the voices of children and schools at the heart of inclusive practice.

Supporting families

Following consultation with schools and families, we have developed a parent/carer guide designed to provide a clear understanding of what OAP is. The guide aims to help parents navigate OAP, communicate effectively with school about their child’s needs, and offers examples of the support that may be available:
