General School Policy

Charging policy

We wish to offer the children a wide range of activities and envisage that it will be necessary to seek voluntary contributions from parents to support these activities. In line with the provisions for charging under the 1988 Education Act and with County Policy, when such activities are planned an initial letter will be sent to parents explaining the nature of the activity and stating it cannot be funded without voluntary contributions.

It will be made clear that the activity will not take place if parents are reluctant to support it. Children will not be treated any differently according to whether or not their parents have contributed. The Governors propose that there will be remission of charges where families are in receipt of income support or family credit.

Absence and holidays

If your child is ill and unable to attend school, we ask you to telephone school to inform us by 9.15 am. When your child has been absent for more than a couple of days we ask you to write a note to explain the reason for absence on their return.

We do not encourage anyone to remove their child from school for family holidays as they miss out on important parts of the curriculum. If this is unavoidable a holiday form must be completed and handed to the office.
The Headteacher is only able to authorise ten days’ absence in these cases.
