Governors: Penny Lambert, Tom Lumsden
Apologies: Tara Gold

1. Welcome
PC welcomed everyone to the Parents’ Forum meeting.

2. Matters arising from the last meeting
Gardening Club: PC said this is going very well. Thanks went to Nick Wilkes. The club will continue next year. Anyone who can help on Friday lunchtimes would mean the club could increase the number of children who can participate.

Website: This is being looked at closely. It is more up to date and dynamic. Looking to improve. Mr Coveney and Mr Golliker are looking at this.

Maths Bags:  Help is needed with this. PC will speak to Mrs Jagtiani.

3. School Matters:

Road Safety. Working with children on road safety particularly because of the car park. LB felt speed bumps or something was needed on the road outside. AT said the police are looking into this at the moment. PC said the police community officer is looking at it occasionally, here at drop off / pick up. The first letter to parents in September talks about road safety and parking etc.

Recorder Club
PC said this has been very successful but won’t be continuing with Debbie Jackson during the day as it’s too disruptive. It will be offered as an after school club by County. LG said that she hadn’t heard anything about after school clubs. PC replied that details will be sent in September. LG thought other physical activities were good as after school clubs rather than trekking around.

AH reported that others had voiced concern about Club Energy and others coming in and “selling” themselves to the children. PC confirmed that they are not allowed to “sell” to the children. There is a big Government agenda on sport and physical activity. PL asked if there was not enough PE within the curriculum? PC replied that there are 2 hours PE a week, 4 hours “active” sessions which includes playtimes.

4. Parent Matters:
AT asked who the new teachers are and will parents be given the opportunity to meet them. PC replied they will be here at the Open Afternoon and did meet the children on transfer days.

AH asked what is the current position about recruiting the new head? TL said they will start advertising again in September. Parents should get a letter re the interim head in the next couple of weeks. The over-riding objective is to get the right person.

LC asked if children are able to bring in water bottles? PC answered that reception are discouraged at the beginning, but all children are encouraged for the Summer term to bring in named bottles.

AT asked if children could be reminded to put on suncream.

Next Meeting
Tba in first Headteacher’s headline in September.
