Governors: Alison Elson (AE)

1. Welcome
PC welcomed everyone to the Parents’ Forum meeting.

2.    Matters arising from the last meeting
EW/PC has spoken to Maureen Prestidge regarding the duplication of information being sent out.  There was some concern that some e-mails might slip through the net if not sent to all.

Recorder Club: Recorder club is going well with 3 different groups according to ability.  The children are happy and enjoying the sessions and Debbie Jackson is very enthusiastic.

Christmas Fair: The Christmas fair was well organised and relaxed; the class teachers were very pleased with how tidy the classes were on the Monday.

Gardening Club: Mr Wilkes, father of a Ladybird child, has volunteered to run the club.  At the moment he is doing some gardening with reception classes, but is hoping to expand as a club for the whole school.

3. School Matters:
Nothing in particular arising.  There was some feedback on the website.
AH had noticed that along with PTA there were some areas that were out of date.  PC speaking to Steve Masters regarding the updating of pages.  PC advised parent to inform Lorraine Danbury of any areas that need changing.  Developments of the website changing with Surrey County Council funding so don’t want to make too many changes to current site.

JS thought it was wonderful getting letters by e-mail.

4. Parent Matters:
AH pointed out that the home readers were often in the wrong colour boxes and wanted to know how often they were checked.
PC responded by stating the home readers were probably checked about once every ½ term; the children are guided by parents/teachers in YR1 and Reception so this shouldn’t happen too much; YR2 choose by themselves.  This issue will be raised at the next staff meeting.

AT asked what can be done with the maths bags and enquired whether the school could provide any worksheets.  PC stated that parents were able to look at curriculum information further ideas for the maths bags could be found.
LC asked whether worksheets could be on the website within the curriculum information link, so they can be printed as and when they were required and also any additional links.  PC stated that there is a display in each classroom which shows what is being covered that week.

HD asked when the children started getting homework?  PC stated that children received spellings and home readers, between now and Easter fortnightly homework for YR1; may not get any additional literacy in YR2.

AT asked if it would be possible for YR1’s to have spelling test on Monday rather than on Fridays?  PC said she would speak to teachers and see if it were possible to change the day.
